Carmen. A fIne story-line, some excellent music and some genuinely classy arias. Populist? I don't care, I like it lots. The first time I saw it staged was in Marseille and it's that production that still stays with me, but I think the version I like most on record/CD is the one that has Leontyne Price in the lead role. What's YOUR preference though?Comments, anyone?
