I just recently found a form of art, that I really enjoy-carving avocado seeds. I was wondering, am I the only one that does it, or are there other people that also do it? Also, how do you prevent the seeds from breaking aparts once they are completely dry?

Apparently you are not alone...

seed carving

It looks like keeping the seed in a covered container helps. I think you should play with the avocado seeds and then move on to wood or soapstone which is plentiful in the area that you are in. When I was in Turkey I would carve on soapstone blocks... a little more permanent and very soft.

Cool pic, Ami! Smile
Now I know what to do with all those seeds left over from making guacamole! Wink
Actually, it sounds like a lot of fun - great idea, Leppi! Big Grin

tex, when you see the seed, you'll see that's it's all brown. Peel of the outer brown layer and you will be left with a white seed. Any part of the white that you carve into, will turn redish/orangish. As it dries the white part will eventually become black. I choose to leave the white on, I know others who chose to take it off(my roomates).
