My puppy has had a kong since the day we got him. Lots of people have suggested the peanut butter thing - our vet even said to freeze the kong with PB inside for our teething little guy - but my question is doesn't the peanut butter make a mess and get all stuck in their fur? My dog is a terrier and has a fuzzy face.

I use peanut butter in our dogs Kong. Keeps her quiet for ages. Provided you keep the peanut butter inside the Kong there is no real mess, as the dog works over time trying to lick it out.

Also if any does happen to spill out you will fins that the dog will also clean this up.

We just ensure that our dog stays in the one place, which is not hard to achieve, since she is so busy trying to get the contents out of the Kong. If she does move off her mat, we just move her back, she is quite happy with this.

Give it a go, but make sure you push the peanut butter well into the Kong, and hard against the sides, as you don't want to make it to easy for your dog to get the treat out.

I recommend this method for a bit of peace and quiet now and again.

I think it really depends on the size of the dog.
We have a black labrador, name of Gemma and she just LOVES Peanut Butter in her indoors kong. While she has a rather large snout there is never usually any left over peanut butter on her.
It depends on the size of the kong too, anyways, when ever there has been left over peanut butter
she enjoys a game of licking.
