Lacie (my Schipperke) appears to have dry skin. She is pitch black and is getting, well, dandruff type flakes for want of a better description.

What can I do about this?

I was thinking of giving her a bath, but that won't treat the underlying problem. I heard that egg yolks are good for dogs. Would they help with her coat/skin?

An occasional egg would be good for her skin, but when my black lab mix got dry skin, we had better luck treating it from within.

I just drizzled a little fat onto his kibble, you can use vegetable oil but he really liked a couple of tablespoons of bacon grease.

Shined him right up!

ps: Give Batdog a hug for me! Big Grin

Our Labs had dry coats and flaky skin, the vet recomended evening primrose oil (one 500 milligramme capsule a day) it did the trick, shiny coats and no more dandruff, it took about a month to see the difference, its also good for their bones and joints.By the way our vetsaid fat isn't good for dogs especially as they get older

We decided to try a tsp of bacon grease mixed in her dry food once a day. We'll see how it goes. Big Grin
