One day we were up near Eureka, California and visited a small Victorian town/village named Ferndale. Incidently, it's a beautiful town. All the homes, shops, etc. are in the Victorian style.
Anyway, we stopped at a soda fountain on the main street and ordered ice cream cones.
They make a huge waffle cone right there at the counter with a crepe batter and roll them while still hot. Absolutely delicious. I've never tasted a waffle cone like them anywhere else.
They hold about 3 scoops of ice cream, chocolate mint, of course for me.
Should you ever be in the Eureka area, drive south on Hwy 101 to the Ferndale turn off. It's really a place you wouldn't want to miss.

That's a great idea Clare! (And I bet the marshmallows go well with ice cream! Yum)
I like any kind of cone - it just depends on my mood. When I was a kid, there used to be a cake type of cone that came in colors and had colored sugar on it! Sweet!

I thought cake cones were the smaller yellow ones with the flat bottom and the sugar cones were the dark colored ones with the pointed end...Don't remember as I don't eat them often.
Tex- I remember the colored ones too! Never had one but remember seeing them in the store alot. Haven't seen them in an age though.

UMMMmm, what IS a ckae cone??? I like the dark brown pointy ones, yuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmyyyyyy, Mocha almond fudge!!!! I also LOVE Drumsticks!!!!
I always remember that in elementry school the parents of a kid who had a birthday would always bring in "cake cones" which were normal flat-bottomed lighter-coloured cones... but they were filled with that confetti cake mix and then baked. it was pretty cool..but I never really enjoyed them.
I far prefer waffle cones over cake cones, and the pointy, dark sugar cones over both.
