I currently have Microsoft Works software on my Windows XP computer. I am going to purchase Microsoft Word very soon. I heard about a converter that you can download online that changes your Works file formats over to Word formats. I was also told by a friend that it didn't work for him. Does anyone have any experience with this "converter" download? Or, does anyone know of one that definately works? It takes forever to download things on my computer, and I really don't want to waste time downloading something that isn't going to work in the end.

Thanks!

MSWord will automatically open MSWorks documents. I used to have MSWorks 4.5 installed when I was running W95 & then W98SE. Since I upgraded to Win XP Pro a year or so ago, I had to uninstall MSWorks as it was not compatible with Win XP. I have MSOffice 2000 installed & all my MSWorks files can be opened by WinWord.
