Just wondering...

When is Microsoft scheduled to come out with a new version of Windows? I've been considering upgrading from Windows ME to Windows XP, but wonder if I should wait for whatever is next.

Thanks.

Whatever's next is bound to come out soon.

My recommendation would be to wait until the next version of Windows comes out. Maybe by then a Pentium V chip will be available too.

MsSueM,
I just finsihed reading a little about the next Windows version which should be out in a couple years, according to PCWorld magazine. The March 2003 issue has a story called "Windows XP's Successor", which tells something about this new version. The code name for this version is "Longhorn". There is a link in the article that may tell more, here it is:

find.pcworld.com/33386

I hope this is some help.

By the time Longhorn appears, millions will have already switched to Linux. Smile

Microsoft, take your time (a million years) and make sure there aren't any bugs. We'll look forward to a bug-free Microsoft product by the time humans become extinct [at the hands of a buggy M$ robot!].

I would be more than happy to try using Linux, if my ISP supported Linux systems. I got Mandrake 9.0 off of Ebay to try on my backup system, only to find out when calling my ISP for some info that they do not support it. I am still planning to use it on an extra pc sometime soon, just wont be able to use it on the net. There are no providers in this area that support it either, so I'm stuck there, Smile.
From what I've seen of Mandrake 9.0, I wouldnt mind using it full time. Oh well, maybe one day!
