Does anyone make a freestanding spreadsheet program that isn't part of an office suite?

I tried OpenOffice, and it's very nice but huge and slow to open. All I'm looking for is a spreadsheet program.

I'll be honest I am no Spreadsheet user
Try this site which has a freeware evaluation version of its Paid For program www.abykus.com/
Download size is 751K

quote:
Abykus 3.0 is spreadsheet software that will run on virtually any Windows Operating System. The interface is simple and intuitive, making it easy to learn and a great choice for an individual, educator or small business owner looking for a single, inexpensive program that can handle a wide range of applications,

quote:
To try Abykus before you buy it, download the FREE Evaluation Version. The Evaluation version is identical to the Commercial Edition, except it limits you to 125 cell entries per worksheet and the Print option is disabled. There are no restrictions placed on the trial period or on the number times the software can be executed.

And the Full featured version is a massive $9.95 Big Grin

PS There are free Free template downloads on the Download link (all under 100kbs)

there is actually a complete, free, office suite by Sun Microsystems (the Java people) called OpenOffice which includes Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw and Base.

they're the Microsoft equivalent of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Paint (a little more options and functionality) and Access.

it's completely free, open source software, by a trusted company...the only drawback is that it's not Microsoft compatible. You can create but you can't open any previously saved Word documents, Excel spreadsheets or PowerPoint presentations

if you want software to use, this is a great office suite. if you want to use it for others who only have Microsoft compatible programs, it's not going to work because they won't be able to open your documents unless they install it, too.

OpenOffice.org homepage:

i have this & it's really good...except for the NOT Microsoft compatible part.

i purchased KingSoft Office which only includes document, spreadsheet & presentation programs for $69.95 (for a single user). you can download it and get a 100 day trial if you just want to check it out. this IS Microsoft compatible

Kingsoft Office isn't free, but it's WAY cheaper than buying Microsoft Office which is about $150.00 for the same if you get the Home/Student version.

if you really need free software, try the OpenOffice.
