I made the mistake of accessing a site through IE and then saving it to favorites, so of course it comes up in IE when clicked, which is ok. But every once in a while it jumps up all by itself, and starts filling my screen with IE windows, one right after the other, and I have to abort.
How can I make this stop?
Scatty ********************************************************** 05-08-03, 06:34 PM Byter Hi Catty: What is the URL to the site you're having trouble with ?
Maybe you'd best E-Mail the URL to me , or anyone else that wants to look at this.

I have spybot but don't know how to work it - this stuff used to come with manuals! I can read, so I found those useful! Now you're on your own.
Thanks for any help.

I didn't download their application though, as I would have no use for this type of service.
Hopefully someone else will try out this service & see if they can duplicate your problem.
Sorry I wasn't more help. Frown ********************************************************** 05-09-03, 10:01 AM cattywampus Thank you, Dwight, my Prince, I'll be using spybot any time now.
God bless,
Catty Cool ********************************************************** 05-09-03, 07:54 PM cattywampus Friends, I haven't been able to get anywhere with spybot. I downloaded, installed with the wizard. When it says it's done, I click on Finish, only to find myself back at the beginning of the wizard again. ... Confused
Catty (thanks for trying to help!) ********************************************************** 05-10-03, 11:37 AM Dwight Catty: I've been trying to figure out what the problem with this install might be, and frankly I'm stumped. I've never experienced this kind of problem.
Can you carefully detail the steps you're taking with this installation and the results?
Also, have you checked your Program menu to see if the installation actually did work? Look for a link to "Spybot Search & Destroy". It would probably be the last item on your Program menu, unless you alphabetized the list.
Dite (OK, bad joke). ********************************************************** 05-12-03, 08:50 AM cattywampus Sorry to be so late getting back to you, Dwight.
The steps are:
1. Download the program; 2. Create a shortcut; 3. Click on the shortcut, Install Wizard comes up; 4. Go through the choices: where to put file, agree with the agreement, etc. 5. Setup done, click Finish 6. Install Wizard comes up again.
This problem started after I discovered I could no longer open favorites. I started using IE so I could open favorites there. While using IE I downloaded a favorites program. Every time I click on this program, it comes up in IE, and invariably, a little later IE will start coming up in window after window, too fast for me to even close them. I have to reboot.
The program is in the Program Menu all right, but when I click on it I get the Install Wizard again.
I hope this helps!

"2. Create a shortcut;"
You don't need to create a shortcut to the installation program. I suggest you select and delete this shortcut.
Just open the file "spybotsd12.exe". That will open the Installation file. Once installed, it will create a shortcut to the program file.
Click Start/Search/Files and Folders.
Look for the file
spybotsd12.exe
When you find it, double click on it.
When the program has been installed, look in your program menu for a link to "Spybot Search & Destroy". It would probably be the last item on your Program menu, unless you alphabetized the list.
I hope this helps!
