Trying to run updates for Spybot, but I get this message: "Detection rule update: bad checksum!"

What does this mean, and what should I do?

Try this.

Its a known old slow server traffic misinstall issue Catty
Can you a) Try a reload ?
B) If no Joy point your updates Load to a different server Look for the BNfile forum Link that works off several of the other servers

Again, you will need to dumb down for me. The instruction starting with "Point your updates to a different server..." went right over my head. I've no idea how to do that. Can you start from the beginning?

Bedstor, I have a feeling that this is also what you are talking about. I didn't know that "server" and "mirror" was the same thing!

Actually, I've been getting this message quite often lately, when I try to download something - updates, etc. I've no idea what to do with this error.

Should be straight forward Catty however you are right it is a setting issue somewhere Probably in Internet Explorer or a Windows setting?

Though It does say upgrading to the latest version may also fix things?...Good Idea

The latest version is a "BETA" Test version this is the last NON Beta Version (stable) from last September) Is a 7MB download
Spybot Search & Destroy 1.5.1.15

Your current version may be a 1.4 or 1.3?

BTW I always get my Security program updates on this Site Now ...always up to date ,and the servers are reliable http://filehippo.com/

Just delete the Old program and install this
and everything should be Hunky-dory again?
