Why don't most FTP programs give direcotry size? U click on a file and it says like 15k for example! But if U click on a directorty it says ZERO-k! Nobody wants to sit there all day and open up hundreds of directories and add it all up!

It's not really the ftp program. It's the server file system. If the server is unix/linux/bsd the "directories" are only organizational - they have no "size" of their own.

Only the files inside the directories occupy actual memory. Even if you were looking directly at the server file, the directory would read "0-K" no matter how many files were in it.

If your webserver doesn't have a control panel tool that adds up the files - I think you're going to have to load them into a spread sheet and track them that way.

(you don't really have HUNDREDS of directories on your web server do you?)

Hundreds isn't really the point! But I have enough on my real domain to bog me down count wise! So how do I tell if I'm running a linux server or not? Or I could use

http://download.com.com/3000-2181-2378094.html?tag=lst-0-1

but my XP machine out of order for now! So my ME secondary will have to do even thought I'm not a big ME fan!

But it won't work! It asks me to copy 2 files I already have and gives me an error when I finally start it!

There got to be a better way than a spread sheet cuz U don't always remember to make a not everytime U copy a file hare and there!

Your hosting service home page should say what OS they're using. If not, there is a web site that you can put in any URL and it will tell you the OS, Server software, and Server Includes, but I can't remember the name.

I don't think the program in the link will work for you. It appears to be a server side application. You would have to install it at the web host, not on the client side.

It's not a difficult scripting task from the server side, and many webhosts offer the feature you're looking for in their control panel interface. For an example look at:
http://nomonthlyfees.com/control_panel.htm
and check out the demo.

If I recall, you use one of those very low cost web hosts, which may not offer much in the way of a control panel feature. You may want to check around for other hosts that offer the feature you want - there are some unbelievably low priced deals out there. (glad I got out of that business!)

good luck!
