the other day i installed windows plus on my computer and since it really slowed down the computer my husband uninstalled it and now he thinks that it corrupted a bunch of files.
for example, i has to reconfigure the modem to get online, many of the icons are either gone or somehow different, and the startup log-in was different.
even the tool bar has changed and has what seems like a blank brown cover over it and you can't to any of the programs in it, like the start button or if something has been minimized. we currently don't have the XP disk to reinstall, but will hopefully get it in the next few days. the mircosoft site is no help.
can anyone help?
thanks.

You can run either the System Restore or the System File Check to replace any corrupted system files.

Run System Restore, Windows XP:

Click Start
Click Run
Type in:
msconfig
Click OK

Click the "Launch System Restore" button.
Click the "Restore my system to an earlier time" option.
Pick a date that precedes the Windows Plus installation.

Click Here to see a video from Microsoft about using "System Restore".
Or

Run System File Check, Windows XP:

Click Start
Click Run
Type in:
sfc /scannow
Click OK

The system file check utility will run. Hopefully it will find and replace any corrupted system files.
