I finally reformatted XP. Anyway, I denied all access to the D Drive for everyone in XP. Now after I've undenied it I still get denied for some files. Even the Administrator doesn't do much. Any ideas of what might of happened will be greatly appreciated?

Barry and ivnj:

I've never reformatted my drive, but have had a similar problem ever since I got my PC last September. When I go into My Computer, there are two folders: Documents and Administrator Documents. I'm denied access to the Documents folder and cannot change it's properties.

Barry, I checked the link you provided, but the graphics are nothing like what I have in my WinXP Pro (I went to the home page and selected Pro). I'm assuming the Documents folder was one I transferred from my old PC and can be deleted (I'd like to look at it first), but it won't let me.

If I double click on Local Disk (CSmile > Documents and Settings I've got:
    Administrator
    All Users
Default User (this is a hidden file)
    Favorites
    Lynne

Hey! I was just playing around with them and noticed the only ones I get the Access Denied error message is on EMPTY folders. What's up with that and how do I fix it?

Maybe both ivnj and I can get our fixes.

I still don't have the answer. But XP-PRO does look like the Link Bazcaz gave. If yours doesn't goto My Computer and Tools Menu. Goto Folder Options and select the View tab. Unckeck, Use simple file sharing [Recommended]. Say Apply and OK.

Now Right click on the C drive and say Properties. U should now see the Security tab like in Bazcaz's link.

Big hug and kiss, ivnj. Worked like a charm!

Also managed to get into all those folders that I was denied. Like this:
    Double click on My Computer
Right click on the folder I was denied access to
    Click on Sharing and Security
    Click on Security tab
    Click on Add
    Click on Advanced
    Click on Find Now
Click on Administrator (I had an entry for both Administrator and Administrators, so I did this twice)
    Click on the OK button
Under Permissions for Administrators, click on Full Control
    Click on the OK button

I now have access to that pesky folder I was denied access to.

Thanks ivnj and Barry. Big hug and kiss for both of you.
