On my new gateway laptop there is a recovery partition. My question is: Is it ok to use a program like fdisk or windows management console to delete this partition to make it available to the user?
Usually these partitions don't show up in windows or dos because they are formatted with an unsupported filesystem. However, this one does. I have the recovery disk that gateway created and on the computer is a program that creates the driver and software recovery disk. To me it is ok to get rid of the partition but i want to know what others think and/or know that i dont.
Thanks

My guess is this is a backup file area like the Virtual disk and System Restore areas .I'd keep it for the moment the only time it may warrant attention is if this Partition restricts the Drive space ...If its set as a small capacity then Ignore it ...If its set as a Drive letter on your "My Computer" list then you may have to post onto another forum which can deal with this
If its only taking perhaps 1 GB drive space then its not going to come into play .But, if this Partition takes a large slice of the Cake then it needs immediate attention OK?

it uses 4 gbs and it shows up in windows as drive d. however, if u click on it to view the contents like one would, it opens up a pop-up thats says the drive is protected by Pc Angel. It has a message that says not to delete any files on the partition or to delete the partition as it contains important recovery files, but like i said, i have the original recovery disk from gateway and another cd that has the applications and drivers neccessary.
