I have Windows XP Home (Service pack 2).

Recently some of the desktop settings got reset, and I restored everything to its original appearance except for the text underneath each of the desktop icons. They used to have a solid background, now have a transparent background making the text harder to read on top of the wallpaper image.

I can right-click on the desktop, select "Properties" and bring up a bunch of options, but none of these seem to fix the problem.

Can anyone help?

Hi Professor
Read the XP section of this article
The settings are in the System Properties folder on the Control panel(Advanced)
Nothing in there bar several tick boxes Smile does only minor changes
I have changed my desktop icons text to a solid colored label using a 3rd party program
There is a shareware program listed here may be good for 1 or 2 attempts to make the labels "Stand out"?
