Other ways to speed up your computer and internet access:
- Streamline your hard drive; Defrag often, at least once a month
- Trim the fat; uninstall programs you never use and clean out the recycle bin
- Remove the barnacles; many programs (RealPlayer, AOL, QuickTime, etc.) love to dump themseleves into your system tray. Right-click some of them (avoid AntiVirus or Firewall programs) and see if there is an option to disable or close them.
