I made a slideshow in Camedia Master 2.5 It took me forever to get the pictures to go with the right background music. Now that I have finished it I want to burn it to DVD. BUT there is no place on this program to burn it, copy it, send it or to save as! I have 132 pictures & 8 songs. All the other software programs I was going to use, uses mp3. I have used mid & wav in my slideshow. Can anyone out there tell me how I can burn it on DVD's. or another FREE program that I can use & still use my songs as wav or mid?
Welcome to AnswerPool, I hope you will find your experience here a pleasant one.
I think the easiest slide show is done by the free graphics program IrfanView.
There was an earlier question on this topic and you can read my full response there as well as download a IrfanView created sample file of images and music in a slide show.
You will also see suggestions from others about different programs: Click Here

I have infraview & tried using it. The problem I had was I put in my first song then the pictures that was to be showing during that song. It would play the song & no pictures until the song was done then it would show the pictures with no song. When those pictures was done it would go to my second song & no pictures until that song was done. Ok what did I do wrong?
Uncheck the "Loop" command in the Advanced Options. Be sure you've downloaded and installed the plug-ins Try this with MP3 files types only. I'm not sure but I think it would be troublesome to mix file types.
As an experiment, I made two more slideshows using background MP3 music. The first one had 55 slides and about 8 minutes of music divided into 3 music files.
Doing the math, I set the slides to advance after 8.7 seconds so that the slides and music would complete at nearly the same time.
I set the first MP3 file as the first one, the second MP3 file was set at the number 18 so at 2 minutes and 24 seconds, the second audio file would start. The third MP3 was set to start 2 minutes and 28 seconds later, then the last one was set.
As the first MP3 file finished, the second one would start if I did not check the "Loop" command in the advanced options list.
It took some tweaking to get the music to end and start at the right points. I did have about a 2 second audio pause between songs.
In the second, and easiest experiment, I used an audio editor to create a "medley" of music that ran for for about 8 minutes. This took some effort, but it made it easier to setup the audio.
I put the MP3 Medley in the first position, then all the images. I only did this with MP3 file type and I don't know if it would work with other audio files, but it did work for me.
Just a note...did you download and install all the plug-ins for the IrfanView player?

corrected a couple of typos that changed the meaning the first paragraph.

You was right it would not work with midis so I changed all the music to .wav...Great I got 2 trojans in that process! AVG took care of them for me tho....lol Now I WAS ready to burn it to cd. The only cd's I have are CD-R. I hoped I could burn my slideshow on them.........NOT!!! Only thing that burned was the audio, no pictures showed up. I did everything! Now I have a BUNCH of useless CD-R's & still no slideshow burned. Is it the CD-R's? or what? "Can you hear me up there?" I am sreaming my head off... I don't know what to do now. I even downloaded a different cd burner & still no luck!HELP!!! Yes I downloaded & installed all the plugins.
To a computer, music and audio files are just 0's and 1's. There is no reason an image file would not burn onto a CD if other file types are successfully burned.
How did you burn the files? Did you burn the .exe picture show file? I have had no trouble running this type of file from a CD with an autorun file so the CD will start automatically when put into a CD-ROM drive.
You can download an autorun file here if you like. Right click the autorunm.zip file and choose "Save Target As". Then burn your autorun file onto the CD so that it is the first thing the CD-ROM sees when the CD is inserted into the drive (root directory of your CD).
You could also save the audio and image files in a single folder, then burn the folder onto a CD. Then the CD slide show could be viewed from the IrfanView program. Just open IrfanView, then navigate to the folder burned to the CD and open it. Select the audio file you wish to play first, then the image files until the point where you wish to add the second audio file, and so forth.
I think just burning the .exe file created by IrfanView would be easiest.
I hope this will be helpful.

WHERE'S MY GUN I AM GONNA BLOW THIS FLIPPIN COMPUTER SKY HIGH!!!! I tried burning it through IrfanView & Nero Express & Express Burn!! Yes I even tried burn the .exe file. IrfanView makes an .exe. As for the autorun.........I got errors out the butt!!!! So let's forget about that for now I just wanna burn my slideshow. I also made a single folder with everything I wanted on the CD & tried burning it.....grrrrrr I Also loaded 1st song then the pictures then the next song & the next pictures.....& so on til I had everything loaded. This is what I got for song A flipping error I try burning it again & I keep getting This Message box popping up "The file'C:\My Documents\Dad\eternal_father1.mp3' is invalid- need MPEG-1 which was encoded for Video-CD: audio:44.1kHz; sterro 224Kbits/s video:352 x 240 / 29.97 Hz or 352 x 240 / 23.976 Hz or 352 x 288 / 25 Hz The Following problems were found: -sream encodine which is invalid for a [Super] Video CD -no video -no audio THEN WHEN I WOULD try just the pics this is what showed up on the screen: Reading Directories Creating directories Checking disc ( I am thinking KOOL.... FINALLY) [!] Caching of files started [!] Caching of files completed (YIPPEE!!) [!] Burn process started at 4 x[600KB/s] Writing Lead-in [.] Power calibration error [#] Burn process failed at 4x [600 KB/s] Burn process failed (WHAT THE ****)
OK I tired to clear the disc format it what ever ya call it. & I get Power Calibration error.....so I look around in every lil drop down window & find 2x so here we go again......but the exact same thing happend again & again & again.... I have been at it for 10 hrs just today!!
OK What is up? What am I doing wrong? Irfan only has 2 speeds 2x & 4x Ok maybe I am stupid maybe not!...lol My burning options in IV are: Copy slideshow files & IrfanView to CD (Data CD) OR Create Video CD (VCD)....I have tried both neither one will burn! I checked & unchecked the Enable VCD Menu. clicked next.... slideshow with thumbnails show up on screen.....or I can have other choices, layout, background, text, fullscreen, set as default. next...current recorder...disc name & speed...I try 2x 300.......It goes through the whole process again & I get Calibration ERROR again...... The only thing getting burnt here is me!!!!Like I said earlier GET ME MY GUN!!!!!!! Thanks for your patients with me!
It sounds to me like a burner error. This might be a hardware problem, meaning the burner itself has failed. In the past 4 years I have had 2 CD burners fail which required replacing them with new units.
These failures I experienced were just "out of the blue". One time they burned fine, but the next attempt they failed.
Can you burn any type of CD-R disk? If you can make one CD-R disk successfully, then it is probably not a hardware failure.
Also, you could be using the wrong type of CD-R disk. You should be using a standard disk, not a music or video formatted disk. When burning, set this disk for "data" file.
As I mentioned, the computer doesn't discriminate between file types, they are just 0's and 1's.
I'm sure you realize this, but the computer requires patience. When something isn't working correctly, sit back and try to analyze what is causing the error. Often times if I can't make something work one way, I look for alternatives. For instance in this case you're trying to burn a CD, but you don't know if the problem is with the file(s) itself or with the burner or with the CD-R media.
So, try a different media. If the IrfanView .exe will fit on a floppy, try saving it to a floppy disk and seeing if the file runs correctly from the floppy disk. If it does, then you will know the problem is not with the .exe file itself, but rather the CD-R media.
If you can't use a floppy disk for any reason, perhaps you could use a jump drive (sometimes called a flash drive) to save the IrfanView .exe file to. Again, if that works, you know you will need to focus on the CD burner process and and/or hardware to solve the problem. Jump/Flash drives
Another option is to email the file to a friend (assuming the file size is not too large) and asking them if the file runs correctly. If you wish, you can email it to me. You will find my address on my Website at: http://dwightblackburn.com Please use my hotmail account because it will accept larger file attachments.
I hope this is of some help!

OMG!!! I don't believe it!?!? I tried to burn my slideshow just 1 more time & it worked ! (Kinda).....lol 1st thing I have no idea what I did different! I just opened my Express Burn. I thought I just had to add the .exe autorun file but something went wrong there. So it won't show the slideshow & can't access it! BUT it did burn. So I tried burning it without the autorun.exe. Great I can see the slideshow on my computer but not on my TV. Why? I am using a standard CD-R disc. When I tried using the Nero burner it wouldn't burn it came up with the Power Calibration error again. It only has 2x & 4x speeds! Ok now back to this autorun.exe. Ok I am really a blonde here.....lol when it comes to this kind of stuff! Ok I downloaded the exe file...I click on it.....then what do I do with it? Am I suppose to change anything in the box? When I click on "Create an autorun file this is what is made: [autorun] open=myapp.exe icon=myicon.ico label=My Application
Is this what I am suppose to put on the CD? or what?
2nd problem I have 130 pictures showing for 10 seconds each. So that means when a new song starts I have a blue screen for 10 seconds too! How do I get rid of this blank screen? When I was making the slideshow "dummy me" I would just click my mouse to advance to the next picture.... DUH!! TV's don't have a mouse...lol How do I make all my songs into one long melody? I have total 9 different songs. The 1st song is also my last song. approx 24 minutes of songs. 3rd. What kind of CD do I need to burn this on to watch on a TV DVD player. Is DVD PixPlay better than IrfanView? I need a program that is easy & that plays on DVD TV players. I can't believe burning this 1 slideshow has taken me longer than it did to make my 14 page website. From start to finish it only took me 2 weeks and I had no idea how to make one!
[autorun] open=myapp.exe (put in the name of your Irfanview created .exe file) (like summer_vaction.exe icon=myicon.ico If you choose to run an icon, put in the name of your icon label=My Application Give it the name of your IrfanView created slideshow program. Like "My Summer Vacation"
There is a readme in the zipped file folder which explains this.
Your computer plays DVD's. You made a CD. CD's are different from DVD's.
Blank screen: You will need to time your music selections based on the number of seconds the images will display. Or you can put in a single long playing audio file, that will play about the same time as the image display takes to run.

Mama always said "the only stupid question, is the one you don't ask" So here goes the stupid question.......How do I make a "single long playing audio file" ? With the songs I have for my slideshow. I have read everything from everywheres in all the programs I have on this computer, that has anything to do with audio & I can't find out how to do it!
...question...How do I make a "single long playing audio file"? mrswolfie
First, if you didn't ask questions, we would be out of business here at Answerpool.com. So please, don't hesitate to ask...that is our reason for existence!
Now, to try to answer the question...I used a downloaded program to "rip" 5 songs from a CD Audio track. This was from a disk that I have purchased, so this is not piracy.
The audio file on the CD was in a .cda format and I converted the files into the MP3 format and saved them to my hard drive. This file type conversion is part of the "ripping" process and you can open the Help file in the ripper program to get the steps: Look for "making your own MP3 from audio CD".
Then I opened an audio editing program that came with my Creative Labs Sound Blaster sound card. Using the File menu / Open command I opened the first MP3 file and then clicked on File/Open and opened the 2nd MP3 file.
In the second window, I clicked the Edit menu / Copy command to copy all of the 2nd MP3 file. I closed the 2nd MP3 file window and clicked into the first MP3 file window and clicked on the Edit menu / Paste command. You can use the "return to start" button to find the beginning of the song.
This action resulted in having 2 song files combined into one file. Then I repeated these steps, adding the other MP3 files, so I ended up with 5 songs in a single file. Doing a File menu / Save As command saved my new "medley" of music. See a picture of this here.
This medley is 14 minutes, 45 seconds long; enough for 88 pictures with a display time of 10 seconds each. There are 2-seconds of silence between songs.
Since it is only one music file, you can set the "loop" for both the audio and the images to make it play continuously.
You can download trial programs of both the "ripping" software and the audio editing software. I used the trial version of "AltoMP3 Maker which you can find here.
As mentioned, I used an audio editing program that came with my sound card, but again there are many trial applications you can use: See this Google search page.
Trial applications are programs that you can download and install and try them to see if it is something you want to purchase. Usually the trial period is for a set number of days or a specific number of uses. The audio ripping software for instance allows you to rip the first 12 songs from a CD. Then you must either purchase it or quit using it.
I hope this helps!
