I downloaded and installed MSN Messenger version 6.0 to my Windows 98 machine but the program caused problems for me. I checked the minimum system requirements and determined that my Win98 machine did not have enough processing power:
System Requirements for Version 6.0 Minimum System Requirements: Multimedia PC with 233MHz processor or faster (500MHz recommended) Microsoft Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows Millenium, or Windows XP operating system Minimum 64MB of RAM (128MB recommended) Up to 50MB of hard disk space needed to install — after install, up to 15MB may be needed 256-color VGA or higher resolution graphics card (SVGA recommended) Minimum 800x600 screen resolution Microsoft® Internet Explorer version 5.01 or later must be installed on your computer, though it does not need to be your default browser Note: If you are not sure your computer meets these system requirements, please check with your computer manufacturer. There is a simple way to determine your computer's specifications. Download and install the " BelArc Advisor". Also, you can click Start/Find and search for the msnmsgs.msi file. Have it look in your C:\ drive. You can download an earlier version of MSN Messenger if you prefer. Click Start/Windows Update (or Microsoft Windows Update). I suggest you install all Critical Updates listed, then look in the Windows section for MSN messenger. Check that it's pre-version 6.0 and download/install that. I hope something will help! Dwight

Thanx Dwight,I had the proper requirements to install the 6.0, in fact I used it for about two months. Now, I could not reinstall the 5.0 since the 6.0 was present, but HOW do you uninstall that 6.0 when it doesn't want to? when using the install/uninstall device in the control panel, would not get rid of it, it was only trying to install itself. And I found how! And I was able to reinstall the 5.0, and I,m back in business. I downloaded a program called "Windows Installer cleanup exe." 1)You install it and click on Created short cut or start=>program=> desktop. 2)Select program from the list you could not "uninstall" 3)click remove.Et voilà. I,m glad everything is back to normal.
