Mystery The Uninstall in the "Add Remove Programs" when used only starts the repair files function off .But that is a safety net thing..I think it only works when an updated version is loaded the "New" version slots into the same space as the old version (overwrites) You only know this by checking the version Number Load the Belarc Advisor Program ( see topic pinned at top of Beginners Issues) and get the version number from the List Current version is IE 6.0 If it's showing a number lower than IE 5.5 then you Must upgrade. Question for you: Why are you trying to get rid of IE?

Xp automatically installs IE 6. It is an integral part of windows, and although there is a way of removing it ro re-install it you would lose MANY of the functionalities of Windows itself Have a read of M$KB 293907

There are several reset to default buttons scattered in the Options if you mess up Ie 6 is quite stable, I'm half guessing that your "bugs" are being caused by the "stop on error" boxes being ticked or unticked (easy to fix) Firstly,Reset Your settings to default under the Advanced tab Restore Defaults button is in bottom R/H corner Then find these 2 items under Browsing (4th & 5th items down the list) Disable Script Debugging (this should be ticked) and Display a notification about every Script error (this should be unticked) Press Apply then Ok to save and exit.
