i am still having problems with windows xp and need to find the registration number on the computer in order to get the proper cd from the person i got the computer from.
where do i find the registration number? i do not have the cd. thanks.

Click Start, Run, type REGEDIT and press Enter to launch the Registry Editor. In the left pane, double-click

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, Software, Microsoft, Windows

and click CurrentVersion. In the right pane, locate the name ProductKey. The data to the right is the CD key.

Another good idea is to download Aida32..run it and will give you what you want...Product and also ID key..plus a wealth of other information.:

Howdy:

Dwight's solution will give the ProductID number but that is NOT the Key Code which is what you will need to verify you have a legit Windows installation..

This handy little program will get your XP Key Code for you..
