I think what the software manual means is that the scanner and it's TWAIN driver should be setup in the manner described by the scanner. The TWAIN is just the name of the driver. The scanner setup will install it in the same way an installation program installs all other system files. I think the reason they even mention the TWAIN drivers at all is because a very popular graphics *program has special instructions about installing the TWAIN drivers in a particular folder. I believe they're just telling you that whatever scanner you're using will have the TWAIN drivers installed correctly. By the way, usually when accessing a scanner from a "third party" software program, you click File/Acquire and select the scanner you wish to use. From that point on you can just click File/Scan. I've seen one program where they reverse that process. You start with File/Select TWAIN Source, then from that point on it's File/Acquire. There is a popular myth that TWAIN is an acronym for: Technology Without An Interesting Name. This site debunks that myth. I hope this is of some help! Dwight *Adobe Photoshop
