Right click on My Computer and goto Properties . Click on the Advanced tab. Under Performance click Setting. On that Advanced tab under Virtual memory click Change. It says drive C 3698MB Free. But if I open My Computer and right click on C dirve or look at the left thing it says only 3.04GB free not 3.69 like the other area siad.

What could be worong?

Go back to your first area.. How much space is being reserved for the paging file??

Now, add that space to the reported 3.04 free as given in your second example..]

That's missleading cuz it's technically not free. Page File is usuing it so its not free.

And one says min and one says max. Which one do U go by?

Well, when I go into the paging File, it tells me exactly how much is being used.. along with the min and max.. When I add that to what it shows in your second example, I get the full amount..

And, you just answered your own question.. The paging file is using some so it isn't free.. The Paging File area (your first example) gives the maximum amount that can be used by the file..

When you go to your second area, because the Paging File IS using space, it shows what is available once everything has been accounted for..
