Have to ask this Important question What "Bit" version of Windows are you running? 32 or 64 bit?
Do check this out before you Download any drivers

32 bit drivers won't work on a 64 bit platform and vice versa.
There are more people like myself using the 64 bit version This time around ( One reason: We can use more RAM)
And the Faster (Latest generation) processors can address memory better Smile

No doubt the 32 bit machines Popularity/support is about to go on the wane
The Older 16 bit support finished roughly when Windows 97/8 appeared

SO it is a Safe assumption that Windows 8 could be a 64 bit native CLI in a few years

Looking into the Crystal ball 128 Bit computing May be a reality in 5 to 7 years.

I am using both XP and windows 7 Catty

And am still learning Windows 7 which is Like Vista
And have an Idea for you
that may work and give you control again

Open the Start menu Then Open the longer All Programs List and Locate the Internet Explorer Icon Right Click on it and Look down this Menu and does it say "Restore Previous versions"? and ..........
I cannot tell you what happens next It'll either reset and/or go back to IE8
or B) start a repair wizard
as I say its a New thing to me also
I'll have a look around see if I can find the Correct Procedure

Stop the Presses!
1 second search Later
This method will work for both Vista & 7

If you are tired of Internet Explorer 9 and now want to uninstall it, here is how to do it:

1. Open Programs and features window. To open it, type appwiz.cpl in Start menu search area and then hit enter.

2. In the left pane, click View installed updates option to see list of installed updates. Here locate the entry named Windows Internet Explorer 9.

3. Right-click on the entry and select uninstall to remove Internet Explorer 9 from your PC and revert to Internet Explorer 8.

That's the correct way , bedstor. I have installed ( 3-4 days ago) IE9 on my Vista Laptop and it works fine. Catty's computer has probably other issues that we don't know about that would explain why it didn't work.

Thank you, Mozart and bedstor. I did manage to uninstall it and thus reverted back to IE7. It's working fine now; don't know if I'll upgrade to 8 or not.

I think that was your mistake Catty going from 7 to 9
I know they are unalike but they Expect you to be on the Version 8 (as its prepared for the transition)

So,there is no Harm in upgrading to Version 8
which bar small details is Identical Looking to IE 7.0...Uses the Tabs More
Best features are the "Accelerators" Which
are to be found on the Tabs abd Right Click menus
Takes Several attempts to get up to sppen with them But you'll be searching faster than ever when you've tried them several times
www.filehippo.com/download_internet_explorer_vista/ This is the right link for your computer

Here is what they do and you can add/change/delete to
something else if 1 doesn't suit your purpose

My Default selection are OK Google Search/Bing Maps and Bing translate
www.ghacks.net/2009/02/25/10-u...orer-8-accelerators/

Heres the US selection of Accelerator (Apps)
www.iegallery.com/us/addons/?feature=accelerators

TIP For other Countries galleries change the Country initials (On the address) For the UK its UK Ireland =IE and so on

You are allowed to pick and choose Smile

My error Sorry Red Face ...But the fact remains how did she end back on version 7 if that was not installed in the first place ? Confused

A side issue that Often manifests itself when Updating browsers is the Old Version of Flash and Java are often carried over
So the only way to prepare the ground ahead is try to update 1 or Both of these Programs to the latest version or update

If you are about 1or 2 updates Out then the Update will be called on By Windows
and the browser will run Ok Beyond that there is the Possibility the Browser runs unevenly
(still get the Update)
3rd Case Its too Old say the driver is corrupt ,or a full Key Version number out
that could spell Trouble ...The Browser gives up and No Update is called for Mad
