Im going to build a Linux box that I want to use as a web server. Ive heard that Linux is the easiest to setup as a server and that it can handle web server capabilities real well.

My question is what software should I use? Keep in mind I would like it to be something I can download and install for nothing or very little money. (say less than $20)

You can obtain all Linux distros for FREE (as mandated by the GPL)

Red Hat 9 is popular for servers, however Mandrake is said to be more user-friendly.
