I have saved a bunch of music and directed the MP to the file. It's supposed to automatically check this folder periodically for new additions, but it doesn't seem to be. Is there a way I can manually make it add new music?

Thanks for any help.

We are going to need a great deal more information about this...

I assume that you are a member of some music online supplier?

Yes, I am, it's Limewire Basic, which uses the Gnutella (sp? network.

BTW, Dwight, the pages done in Abby Pro turned out great. I suggested they buy that program. We'll see what they say.

Unless they want to do scanning to OCR, they do not need the program. Once the pages have been scanned and saved as word processor files (and not as image files), they can be edited in the Word Processor. The Abby Fine Reader program is not necessary.

As far as the Limewire program, I cannot help you with that one.

It's not the Limewire program I'm asking about, it's Win Media Player, version 11.

Thank you, Dwight. It's not the Limewire program I'm asking about, but the Media Player.

If I understand this correctly, the Windows Music player is supposed to check to see if you have added new music files.

See this picture
If the image is too small to read, click on it to enlarge.

I hope this helps!

Thanks, Dwight, but I have already done all that. The right file has been selected, but there are several new files there that the player has not picked up. It is set to check every day. I would like to know if it is possible for me to manually move the files from my music file into the player. Cool

Well, yes you can add them to a play list or create a new play list for them.

From the Windows Media Help File:

To create a playlist
On the File menu, click New Now Playing List.
In the List pane, click Now Playing List, point to New List, and then click Playlist.
Drag items from the Contents or Details pane in your library to the List pane to add them to the new playlist.
In the List pane, click New Playlist, and then click Save Playlist As.
In the Save As dialog box, type the playlist name in File name.
Your new playlist is added to the My Playlists category in the Contents pane.

Notes

You can select several items at once and then drag them to the List pane. To select adjacent items, press and hold the SHIFT key while selecting. To select nonadjacent items, press and hold the CTRL key while selecting.
By default, playlists are saved with a .wpl extension in the My Playlists folder, which is usually located in the My Music folder. You can also save playlists with the following extensions: .m3u, .asx, .wax, or .wvx.

To add items to a playlist, do one of the following

If all of your playlists are not displayed when you point to Edit Playlist (that is, there is not enough room in the menu to display all of the playlists in your library), or if no playlists are displayed (that is, there are no playlists in your library), click Additional Playlists to open the Add to Playlist dialog box. In the Add to Playlist dialog box, click the playlist that you want to add the item to.

Add the items to the playlist by dragging them to the List pane or by right-clicking the selected items, pointing to Add to, and then clicking the playlist name.

Thank you, Dwight. That did help. It turned out I had not only a folder for music, but a subfolder that I had not listed! All should be OK now. Red Face
