I did a defrag last week, and keep having to deleted temp. files. While exploring through my program files (looking for unwanted programs cfor more space!) I see that there are program files for AOL.9 and an AOL.9a. Do I need both of these program files or can I uninstall one of them?

Thanks in advance!

Open The Control Panel (Add Remove Programs folder ) then Scroll down the List until you come to AOL Uninstaller and click the Button...Be aware that this is often very slow to display so expect nothing to happen for a while OK?

But when It does display Choose the earlier dated version You will lose nothing
And when you've done that Locate this Progran CCleaner which is Very powerful and it will clear all those loose useless files left behind after uninstalls or overlooked by Windows Cleaner (also clears the Registry) and does several other Housekeeping jobs too
All you have to do is untick the tick list agaist Cookies and History files
There are others worth keeping But I have posted the Basic list on AP for Catty and somebody else recently OK

The end result is It does both speeds up defrags and Unclogs the Internet Cache www.ccleaner.com

PS Does Not Touch Personal Files OK?

If you are either running XP Home or XP Pro, you may want to consider running a Disk Cleanup, when the task is completed, check mark all the boxes, then, go to the tab for "More Options" & select under the "System Restore" click on "Clean Up". This removes all the older restore points on your computer. * 1 word before you go ahead with this... make sure your computer is working 100% as this removes ALL but the last restore point for your computer.* Windows will ask you to confirm. Click "Yes" to continue then, "Ok" on the bottem of that window to complete the task. Depending on how old your system is & whether or not this has been done before, you will get yourself a bit of Hard Drive space back.

Thats a good Idea Windows Sets the restore Points to a fixed percentage of the Master hard drive space by default @ 12% capacity

On a Small capacity drive Thats adequate can trim back to 1 months worth reduce by a 1% step a time
I have mine set @ 9% with a 40GB Drive
But Step up to The 100+GB drive sizes to keep to that Number you can continue to shrink it(But don't Zero it!)
Want some emergency backup points to roll back to OK?Roll Eyes
