OK - we upgraded to Yahoo Messenger 9.0 at home and almost immediately regretted it.

If I open Messenger, it prevents other applications from even working. Apparently, 9.0 was created for Vista, but we don't HAVE Vista on our home PC. If I want to view any other web pages after I've opened Messenger, I have to completely shut down and start over.

Not fun - and it's been keeping me from chatting with my friends!

Anyone have a link to Messenger 7.0? So we can go back?

Thanks

First uninstall YIM 9 using Add/Remove programs, then you can reinstall YIM 7 through Oldversion.com

Be sure to dig through the preferences and disable automatic update checking. (Otherwise It'll nag you to "upgrade" to 9 again)

I have had a look back at all the Tech specs for this Program (versions/upgrades back to Version 7 )
It says they are all good for both Vista & XP

Why 9 does not work with XP is a Mystery Confused
The Program is also bloating to 14Mb Frown

Compromise would be to try the last upgrade version of Version 8?

Well, we downgraded and it still didn't solve everything, so I just won't be on Yahoo Msgr from home. Seemed to work initially, but then later on in the evening, I started having troubles with accessing web pages.

Thanks for the help all...I'm still glad we went back!
