Someone is selling a copy of Windows XP Dell on Ebay but CD only with less than 23 hours left. No KEY-CODE, just the CD. Is there a way to obtain a KEY-CODE? Or do I have to own a NEW dell?

If Dell is anything like HP, you'll only be able to install it on a Dell machine. Especially without the key, I would think it would be near impossible. There could be a way I'm not aware of, and I'm sure someone will post it if there is. Good luck!

My brother in Law has a Dell Laptop and an P2 dell xps r400.

So I don't really need a key code as long is it not needed on those machines.

Most of the 'restore' cds and 'quikrestore' cds actually read the processor serial number and hin (hardware identification number) and can easily detect it's not the machine it was intended for.

If that is the case, you would need a cd key code.
