Which would U say is faster, Windows XP or 2000? Like time to boot, load apps, ETC? I read somewhere that XP is the slowest operating system they made to date.

Depends on a lot of factors, what services are started, how many programs are started at boot, the network you are connected to, the hardware you have installed, the level of graphics you are running. It also depends on who you talk to. Those who think Xp slow obviously have never used NT4 Wink

When tweaked, I can get Xp to boot in 22 seconds, whereas I have never managed less than 30 seconds with win2k.

The thing is knowing what to tweak

it's a lot easier on a standalone machine than it is on a networked one as there are a lot of services that can be disabled in services.msc, which are needed on a network machine.

On top of that, reduce the number of programs in the HKLM and HKCU run and it's surprising

Actually lots of services are started that are unnecessary even on a network machine

Black viper is the guru of service configuration. Have a look at his page
