I assume the audio files that you're transcribing are in a .wav file format. If the file format is a "standard" format, just about any audio player should be able to actually play the files. However, for one trying to transcribe the audio, I would think a USB connected foot pedal device would be much better. You could easily start and stop the playback while you're typing the words into your computer. This Google search results page has additional FTR Foot Pedal information that you may find of interest. Also, check this page.Dwight

You may wish to check with your Radio Shack store about a switch for the FTR Foot Pedal that would permit you to pause/play using your finger. What I have in mind is similar to the "push-to-talk" switch that air traffic controllers use. Your hands would be free for typing, yet you could pause/play the playback quite easily. I suspect that a store specializing in adaptive equipment for the handicapped may have a switch ready made. Perhaps you will find an adaptive equipment store in your city. Just for your information, this site is an ADAP store here in Alaska that I've visited several times. The equipment they have is really something to see. Dwight
