I have an image which contains text, text that I want to edit. Has anyone ever heard of a photoshop plug-in or any kind of software that will let me match the font exactly, by identifying somehow the font that is being used?

if you use windows, in word pad, highlight the text then right click. Click on Fonts. Upon doing that, the font box comes up that lists all the fonts in your computer. The text that it is, will be highlighted.

That is the easiest way I know of.

esencia, I'm sure you mean well - you can't import an image into wordpad.

No offence but you may have hurt my chances of getting an answer - people might see that there's been a response and feel less inclined to read the question.

OK Mr. Smarty Pants, how do I import an image into wordpad and have wordpad identify a font on the image?

I apologize.

I know you can't import an image onto word pad...I wasn't paying attention when I read the word image when I orignally read the post. It pays to learn how to read.

Open Wordpad, click Insert and Object, choose Create from File, and browse to a BMP, WAV, AVI, or other file.

You know, this is all explained in Wordpad Help...

Oh, and I never said Wordpad can identify a font in an image. That wouldn't be actual text.

No apology necessary esencia - It is I who apologize for being cranky. I'm sorry. I actually went back to delete the post but AP wouldn't let me log in!

Hi Gar & Guys:
I can't think of any program that can do what you are wanting to do. There may be some OCR (Optical Character Recognition) programs that do it.

I guess you have a picture (gif, jpg, bmp) or whatever that you want to change the text on.

Here's one trick I've used, works OK but very limited.
Take the AP Trouble Picture; A gif.

With a bit of Copying & pasting in Paint shop I can get:

Razz

If there's a lot of text you want to change or a patterned background you'll find this don't work to good.
