Is it possible to insert a Windows Movie Maker file into a PowerPoint presentation? I assumed all Microsoft products would be compatible, but I can't find any info on this task in the Help section or at Microsoft's site.

When I saved the movie, I only had one choice for the file extension -- .MSWMM

PowerPoint and Windows Media Player (which I think is what PowerPoint uses to play audio or video clips) say they don't support that extension. Is there a way to convert what I have to .wmv or whatever would work in PowerPoint?

Thank you.

There are several different versions of MS PowerPoint, but mine (version 2002) only imports these movie file type: *.avi, *.cda, *.asf, *.ivf, *.miv, and *.m3u

You can convert your .MSWMM file to compatible format using a video editing program.

The page may be helpful: Click Here

And this page: Google Search Results page.

If you have Windows XP you can open the movie in Windows Movie Maker, then export the file in different format. If you don't have the Windows Movie Maker installed, it is available for download on the Windows Update site, Windows XP Family list.

I hope this helps and Go Mariners!

Dwight, I've successfully completed my Movie Maker/Power Point presentation! Cool

I posted my question not long after that idea came to me. I didn't realize Windows Movie Maker requires you to save first as "Project File" (.MSWMM), then you can easily "Save Movie" in many other formats. Apparently many people at the site you linked to couldn't understand it either. Big Grin

My movie includes both photos and a .wav audio file. I saved it twice -- .avi and .wmv -- the .avi version was much too large of a file and caused distortion (the audio file played slowly and some of the photos didn't appear at all), but the .wmv file is perfect.

The movie adds a nice touch to the end of my presentation.
Thank you for helping me.
I hope you're feeling well.
Go Yankees and Go (somewhat) Mariners! Smile

Glad to help, and thanks for asking. I'm feeling fine...much better now.

My son is currently using the Movie Maker program to create an animated short.
