I'm having trouble running Windows Media Player on some programs. Recently, whenever I try to play a file on http://www.u2exit.com and a video file on http://www.u2rome.com it never loads up.

What happens with http://www.u2exit.com is that the the bar at the bottom of the player says "Opening Media" and then a pop-up comes up which says: Unable To Locate The Proxy Server. The Operation timed out.

Under this are two options on the pop-up: Close and Web-Help. Whenever I click close, under the "Now Playing List" it has the name of the file in red, with a red exclamation mark on the right-hand side.

On http://www.u2rome.com the video files come up on a separate window. That also says "Opening Media", and then just says "Ready", but does not play, and has no start/pause, stop, etc. options.

For the second site, I know that I need Windows Media Player 10, which is what I have.

I've tried going Tools, Options, File Types, and then highlighting every type of file, hitting Apply, OK, and then tried opening the file again, but the same thing happens.

What can I do?

Edit: extra comma removed.

I cannot play the sites you listed either. My guess is that there is a problem on the server side, which means there isn't anything you can do from your side.

Heh. Dwight, the sites work. Commas were accidentally added with the URL.

For U2Rome, the video collection videos there work for me. Try opening a video again and right click the video screen, you should find a play button that way. See if that plays it.

For U2Exit, some of the windows media files aren't working for me either. I'm getting various boxes about not being able to play and the good ol' red exclaimation, most saying it's a corrupted file. Are you not able to play any, or are you able to play a few like me? And a lot of the files for Realplayer aren't playing, too. Do you play Real Audio in your Windows Media player, too? They give some advice on troubleshooting here. It's probably just a lot of bad, old files or they're having some temporary trouble on the site. The newly added media don't seem to be having a problem.

Okay, thanks for help from both of you.

Regarding http://www.u2exit.com, the files that are being added seem to work for a lot of other people on various computers. Last time I checked, most worked, but I'm not sure about it anymore. I'll check it out.

Jusork, good catch! Thank you...and it was a bad guess on my part, wasn't it? I didn't notice the commas. Anyway, I have edited them out so the links work now. I was able to listen to music from both sites and didn't run in to any problems, but I only played a few samples.

Thanks again Jusork! Enjoy the music Matiqua!
