I know below 2000 hangups and stuff were common when putting in a whole gig of ram or more. But what about XP? I love the memory management. But is is safe to put in a gig or more.

Windows XP 32-bit supports up to 4 GB of physical memory, while the 64-bit version supports 16 GB.

Because Windows NT/2000/XP use a different memory management scheme, the large RAM problems experienced with 95/98/ME do not occur. There may be motherboard issues, however, when three or more memory modules are installed, due to "capacitive loading" distorting the signal waveforms. In this scenario, it is often necessary to increase memory timings slightly, or to use registered RAM.
