Wanting to update and extend my knowledge of Microsoft Office, I recently took an Office XP class at a local college. I purchased the software for Office XP Pro.
I am also taking the Expert class next semester and was planning to take the MOUS Expert test after the class.
Now I read in an PC magazine that Microsoft plans to come out with a newer version this summer called Office 11.
Has anyone heard anything about this?
I want to stay up-to-date, but this is ridiculous.

Did you also notice what very few OS's it will be offered for? Microsoft screwing the consumer once again.... why is this no surprise? I wouldn't worry from your standpoint. They barely change anything in each release of Office, so adapting will not be a major issue. Besides, just because it's the latest version doesn't mean all the lemmings are going to go buy it up immediately.... (oh wait, yes they will, examples: Windows ME, Windows XP). At present, they don't plan to release it for any OS other than 2000 and XP. That means they even shaft ME users who didn't like the layout of XP so they bought the other overpriced OS on the shelf no more than a few months ago. "Go buy our new OS or you can't play with our new toy!" Microsoft feels so comfortable in their little bubble. However, what has over the years been a little joking and a slight dislike by consumers has recently been turning into ridicule and pure hatred, causing many users to search for ANY alternative operating system. Microsoft may be riding high now, but if they cut support for all the OS's sitting on consumers' desks, they are relying on the fact that consumers will buy the new OS.
