Hi diannewb
Can you post what type of files are on your Cd?
click on the Properties label after rightclicking on the Cds icon .We need to know what the files end in before finding a suitable program to help you convert them

These are music files, and the file extension is .cda. Is that what you're asking? I want to convert the music files to midi so I can run them through a music transcription program (Tabledit).

There were quite a few converters I found in my searching on Google
Most of them were asking a lot of money for the privilege of using their program or Looked too complex to use. Frown
So I looked for simple to use or freeware stuff and found this link:
http://tallstick.com/
Their program is only a few hundred bytes big (Download time less than a Minute)Converts many different file types to MIDI,and you can experiment with it, but cannot "save" to disk, until you purchase the licence (no price)(Should be inexpensive?)

Thank you so much - I'll play with it and see if I can get it to work.

I'm quite certain that CD audio cannot be converted to MIDI. Audio files (WAV, MP3, etc.) contain data which allows the original waveforms to be regenerated. MIDI files, on the other hand, consist of pitch, volume, and instrument information which correspond to individual notes, and require a music synthesizer to produce the actual sounds.

Except for extremely simple soundtracks (limited to possibly 3 non-complex instrument sounds), the mathematical analysis needed to determine the pitches is far too intensive to be practicable.
