I am running Win XP and I have noticed that in all of my folders (files) that some of my files are in blue while the rest is in black.

For example, I have 'My Music' in list format: Going down the list it looks like this:

Alexander's Ragtime Band
Always on My Mind
American Pie - Don McLeon
Amnesia
And So it Goes

What is the significance of the blue font in XP folders?

I think I found the answer to this but I need confirmation
The Blue files are those that are cataloged on the Hard drive as compressed NTFS Files (Query..Compressed Temp (text) files? Roll Eyes)
There are others in Green but these are encrypted (Again got no idea)FrownHave none of these on my computer...
All I know about this is what's on this page and I've tried to make a guess as to what is what Confused(I'm learning as well) Wink

I will assume that compression is it.

Going through a few randomly selected blue and black files I find that under properties, advanced there is a box that one can check to compress files. The blue lettered files are checked for compression the black ones are not.

Once I uncheck compression they turn back to black.

thanks.

Cheers
