Does anyone know much about this? I have heard that there are pills people can place in your drinks when you are out in a bar or a group of people. Is this popular or an isolated thing? What does the pills do to you? Any information would be appreciated.. thanks

the pills called rohypnol. people slip them in drinks and it's pretty tasteless. it knocks you out cold so they are able to do things to you without you remembering.

I would like to see some stats with age groups. This sounds like something young college age guys would pull. It's hard for me to comprehend a 40 year old guy doing something like this.

I put my research skills to work, and came up with.....nothing. Seems there just arn't stats on Rohypnol usage as a date rape drug. From many of the sites I did look at, it seems that Rohypnol actually plays a part in a very small number of reported rapes. There are many drugs used as date rape drugs, but Rohypnol is especially identified as such by the media, thus causing much hype, with no apparent reason. The makers are Rohypnol have a new formula that takes longer to dissolve in liquids, and also turns the liquid blue, thus decreasing it's effectiveness as a date rape drug. One stat I did find is:

Hoffman- LaRoche, the manufacture of Rohypnol, recently funded a drug screening program in the U.S. The results of this program showed that Rohypnol was found in less than 3% of the samples taken.

Date rape drugs are certainly more popular in the college scene and at frat parties and such, but their use is not exactly a rare occurrence.
Women ought to just be careful. Keep an eye on your beverage, don't let anyone else serve you, and don't drink more than you can handle. Know your limits and stay safe.

Something about this date rape pill sounds funny to me. I would think if you are someplace that serves alcohol, that you would know two drinks aren't going to knock you out. I would be afraid that something was very wrong with me if I felt overly groggy or something of that nature from a drug put in my drink. I don't understand how it is that women don't notice something very wrong with them when this drug kicks in.

Wildflower63: I agree, you'd think you would notice. But from what I've heard, it kicks in pretty fast and an experienced date rapist would already have you in a situation where he could easily get you out of the party or into a back room or something like that.
Basic rule of thumb: just be careful. And keep an eye on your drink.

if your at a bar and somebody orders you a drink go with them or make sure the bartender brings you the drink personally. There are two things people use now one is Rohypnol, the other is GHB, both are tasteless.
Everyone of all ages use these things, sometimes the conesequences are very serious.
Keep your drink in close range, if you gotta use the restroom finish your drink. If you come back and they've ordered another one for you, don't drink it. Go out in groups of at least one more person or more.
Anybody and everybody slips people a mickey they look no certain way.

Great advice Ron. I think that my friend and I were slipped something, we had a big drink, one for two people and went off to dance, we came back drank some of it and both of us were feeling a little weird, so we left the bar, neither of us remembers anything for the next hour or two, we made it back to her house all in tact, but what if we would have stayed at the bar? I know there was something in the drink because we didn't even finish it and could not have been that drunk after only that.
So yes, be careful!!!

kitty, that pretty much how it works, your memory is shot. Thank god your ok. Laides, for real, be safe out there. Guys seriously get very stupid at bars, niteculbs and stuff like that.
They just wanna score, and there are some low class guys that have ABSOLUTELY no game and are so desperate and dumb that they will slip you a mickey.
A Real man will spit game and try to talk you back to their house without being a bitch and slipping you a roofie.
Keep that in mind though, there are lots of low class men out there that will do that crap without hesitation, so laidies be careufl out there and don't let your drink be left un-guarded
