Do you agree or disagree that Viagra is a treatment for a medical problem?

Well, I don't agree and I believe it is just a lifestyle drug. I don't see any medical problem involved. If so, then gray hair is a medical problem.

I don't think it should be paid for by insurances. They won't cover birth control, why cover the distribution end?

My insurance covers bill control pills.
Honi, I usually agree with you but I do think that people should be able to have a healthy sex life and if they need Viagra for that, so be it. I do see it as a medical condition and I think that it would be terrible not to be able to have sex in a loving relationship.

No problem Kelley. I don't see anything wrong with men using viagra and having a healthy sex life. I just don't see it being classified as being used for a medical problem. I just see it as another lifestyle drug like birth control pills. To me, a false erection is just like false boobs.

Lately, it has been found that taking Viagra can lead to heart attacks in men. I think that it is something about the pill itself, not the activity with which the pill is associated.

It depends why Viagra is taken... if it is jsut to last longer/ do it more often then it is a lifestyle drug and should not be covered by insurance. If it is for a serious sexual disfunction, and it is for a commited couple (say for example a married couple wanting a baby), then I would say it is worth a try and is definitely medicine.

The "activity with which the pill is associated" can also lead to heart attacks in men, but fear of death has not historically taken precedence over libidinous impulses. IMHO.

I read an article about viagra and the death rate from taking it is larger than one might think.

Since most all drugs have side effects, I guess one is as good as the other.

I agree with Silja.

And I have to add that any woman that wanted me to risk my health just to enhance her pleasure would be told goodbye. I like my relationships to be a little more meaningful.

If used simply for enhancing the experience and being able to go longer, I condemn it.

However, there are certain drugs which limit the ability for a man to achieve an erection, blood pressure meds, etc... If Viagara or similar drug enables them to enjoy a healthy sex life with their partner, I'm all for it.

It depends on its use..please don't lump it in with drugs that are just "sexually enhancing". Sometimes it's necessary.
