Very interesting, indeed. I think a woman's body is formed/made to have an orgasm, and is supposed to have one everytime, just like the man. There are other factors such as length of time, her mate's performance, etc. that can hinder the process. A man is just quicker in most instances.
Given the right man, and enough time, women are in the same catagory with orgasms as men. Their bodies are supposed to have one everytime.

Sure, it could be vestigial, but for an adaptation to persist it need only convey a small advantage, or 'edge'. Women who are willing, even eager, even downright persistent, in wanting sex because it is sensually rewarding are likely to have more offspring, even in a male-dominated society where refusing sex is not a woman's option. And a slight edge is all it takes.
But publishing in that field is tough. Most of the work has already been done, pretty well, and besides, it's pretty speculative. So if Dr. Lloyd comes up with a new angle, e.g. that the commonly accepted theories are wrong, and get published, it gives her career a nice boost.

"In macaques and chimpanzees, she said, females are conditioned by the pleasurable sensations of clitoral stimulation to keep copulating with multiple partners until they have an orgasm. Thus, males do not know which infants are theirs and which are not and do not attack them."
I've held a similar theory for years, in that the human sexes are actually more adapted for women to have multiple partners in succession. (But not for the reason stated above about preventing males from killing the infants).
The reasoning behind my theory is basic survival of the fittest. Think about it, human males are quick to arrive, go flaccid rather quickly, and lose drive for a short time immediately after orgasm. Women, on the other hand, generally require longer bouts of stimulation in order to achieve orgasm, (correct me if that's not basically true), and orgasm is the involuntary drive behind sexual activity in the first place. (any argument to the contrary is silly).
So with these 'facts' it makes sense to visualize a female surrounded by a number of men, each waiting their turn to submit their genes into the lotto of life, finishing quickly, exiting satisfied, and leaving room for the next in line. All the while the female, with her need for further and further stimulation, remains a willing participant. Now, may the fittest sperm win the race. Sounds pretty disgusting, (or perhaps exciting to some), by today’s standards, but makes a lot of sense, at least to me.
