I own a Compaq laptop (model: Presario R3320CA) which uses a PC2700 200pin CL2.5 unbuffered ECC not supported ram.

I had installed a KVR333S0 (or KVR333SO) last week, and after that, when I turned on my computer, I checked my BIOS and realized that my memory was recognized. Ok...I loaded my computer with XP Pro, and I started to have a problem. Sometimes, when I do a few things, it will freeze, and in most cases, after about 1 minute or so, I will get a blue screen. I can't see what the error is, as it just flashes it once then restarts the computer. The computer restarts, and the same problem appears. It says that this computer has just recovered from a serious problem, and after that, same blue screen returns, then restarts the computer again. I tried to plug back my old memory, which I wanted to replace, and my computer works fine again.

I had upgraded my BIOS to see if it works. I had also tried to delete the minidump created by the blue screen problem. Does anyone get a clue of how I can solve this problem? I believe I bought myself the right memory.

If anyone can give me some hints, I will be more than happy to hear. thanks

The memory card(s) may be bad. If you take the computer to a shop, they can test the cards to see if they are functioning correctly.

If the cards are bad, you should be able to get warranty replacement cards.

You could also take the card(s) back to where you purchased them (along with your laptop) and have them replace the card(s). Try the new ones to see if the problem is resolved.

thanks, Dwight.

Yes, I had contacted Kingston to see if I can get a replacement, and they were wondering if this is a problem with the compatibility or the malfunction of the memory module. The technician gave me another telephone number to call, and he asked me to call that number tomorrow, since the that department is closed on Sunday. I guess I will see what happens.

Thanks Dwight for your help. =)
