My processor is an Athalon 800mhz, I currently have only 128mb RAM, I intend adding 256mb could this harm the system? Should I go for less?

Howdy:

By all means go for it if you wisk.. Just be careful as far as your operating system goes.. The Win9x/ME systems can handle up to 512 megs with no problem, but any more than that and it will actually slow you down rather than help.

I am running 512 on my 98SE system and a gig on my XP Pro system with no trouble at all.

If you intend to add a 256 MB RAM module, first verify that this size is compatible with your motherboard. The appropriate types of RAM should be mentioned in the motherboard manual.
