Wondering if any of you have had this problem --after using your keyboard a zillion times, the letters start to vanish off of the keys. Does one need to buy a new keyboard or are there kits that you can buy to restore the messed up keys? Thanks.

Kelley Girl It may astonish you to know that Brand New Keyboards can be purchased for well under $10. And good ones off dealers on Ebay for about the $5 mark Wink

Yes, Mike, I am astonished! Thanks so much for the site. I really had no idea that I could get one so cheap.

Well E is the most used letter of the alphabet followed by s and then n.

Most likely by this time you any replacement keys for your key board are discontinued items. So getting "new keys" to replace those will most likely be out of the question.

There are new keyboards you can buy - they range in price and it may be worth the money to buy a new one, if the letter is worn off on tops I assure you by this time the spring has been hit enough times to be a concern as to how much longer E, S and N will actually work.

Office stores sell key boards and keyboard/mouse sets ranging in price. Now days wireless is comparable to wired. About 4 months ago we spent around $50.00 on a wireless mouse and keyboard set (Microsuck, er, I mean microsoft) however now its already acting up some issue between the signal box and the keyboard where the depression of a key leads to a string of Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeetters (like that). Of course the 90day warranty is expired…..

As you may know keyboard technology and mouse technologies are changing, now you have a mouse that you don’t move, but it has a ball which with one finger you can move about. Key boards now also come with a zillion extra keys like a media player controls, My favorites buttons, internet buttons, etc.

You get what you pay for, we spent cheap and got cheap in returnnnnnnnnn sooooo we have ourrrr litttttttle problems.

Last time I checked, the letter frequencies in English began: ETAOIN SHRDLU ... and that is how they were arranged on a linotype machine.

Perhaps the key frequencies on a computer keyboard (for English-speaking users) are slightly different, but I doubt that S and N have been promoted to that degree.

The space bar, of course, sees much action, and judging from the shiny spots on my keyboard the right thumb evidently presses the bar more often than the left. Also my backspace key gets plenty of use!

DvdGStwrt,
Have your tried to clean the keyboard? Perhaps a can of compressed air might clean out a stuck key. With most keyboards you can remove a key to make cleaning around it easier. If you remove more than one key at a time, I suggest taking a picture of the keys position before removing them...just in case.

With wireless, there is always the possibility of loss of signal. I suggest you try moving the antenna around to see if there is any change in the performance.

Also, you may have problems with the keyboard driver. You can uninstall/reinstall it to see if there is any change.
