Do a check of the Battery connector And check that they are clean A tiny bit of corrosion can cause all sort of messages You can buy a Spray to protect the terminals and Improve the connection against corrosion also Damp a micro second squirt is all you do.. Electrical Suppliers will stock this 1 small can will last you years Ask about a Damp proof spray Be aware that there is the Wet spray type also One that sprays a thin coating Buy this in a Place where they sell car accessories

You guys are awesome! Thanks so much for the tips. I will certainly follow up on that battery link. I knew someone who's CMOS battery went out and I imagine the one in this computer is not long for this world, either. We don't make a doorstop out of it because my brother is a stroke victim and just needs email...speed is not an issue. Thanks again! Irishgirl
