I purchased my computer system 2 years ago. It included an HP K60 All-in-one printer.

My sister had purchased the previous generation three months prior -- I believe hers is a G35.

When making copies from a color original, she can choose to have it come out in black and white. Since mine was a later version, I assumed I would have the same capability.

Shortly after my purchase, I became incapacitated and did not use my computer for almost 1 1/2 years.

I have read the manual, but I can't find any way to make a B&W copy from a color original.

I am upset since I paid $400 for this machine and don't want to waste color ink when it is not necessary.

Any suggestions?

Even if you print in grey scale, you are still using colored ink (it uses yellow to enhance the black) and there is no way around this. So ink relacement costs may be higher than you anticipate if you are just printing black and white. This is true for all of the HP multifunction (ink jet)products. 2.) You can't take a colored original and make a black and white copy in a simple step, but it is possible. You will need to scan it in and then print it in greyscale. 3.) It took a while to figure out the scanning features, for my purposes the manual and phone customer support were not helpful. If you want to take an original and make an exact replica, you need to use the HP Image Editor and not any of the other software choices they willgive you. Most of those choices will not let you scan more than one page in at a time. To keep the scale the same, you will need to choose to scan "Text as image" and not photo or text. 4.) When this unit prints a document or a fax, it prints the first page first which then gets covered over by subsequent pages. So you have to put the pages in the right order when you are done which is cumbersome
