Saw an ad for a coputer with a Pentium 4 hyperthreading processor. Apparently that divides the processor into two parts somehow to work on two programs at the same time. So does this essentially turn a 3 ghz into two 1.5 ghz processors? Does it vary by need like 2ghz plus 1 ghz?

Then I see articles were AMD shows that hyperthreading does not improve performance including when the hyperthreading capability is turned off.

So is 3 ghz so fast you don't really need more than half that speed? Is this a useful feature or marketing crapola?
