My monitor has developed some very high strung behavioural problem! I have a 19" screen and WinXP. My screen seems to quiver at the top and at the bottom (sometimes in different places). This happens irregularly. I haven't found a connection of any sort between this and anything else that I do or have running!

It's very odd! Sometimes it reduces the task bar to such a thin strip that it's difficult to make out the icons! It was quivering for about 10 minutes, but has subsided now!

Anyone seen this before??? It drives me whacko!

Confused

Intermittent interference "could be" caused by
a computer speaker too close to the monitor?
And if turned of the picture will appear as normal
I have a speaker which causes a screen flicker if turned on it is caused by the transformer inside the speaker I could shield it by putting kitchen foil on a card and placing it betwixt monitor and speaker
In your case it sounds like a high wattage Item or something with a strong magnetic field nearby
Suggestions ...Fans, Heaters, Hifi speakers TV set or is the computer near a microwave? within a few feet or is it on the other side of the wall,Add Washing machines tumble dryers and electric cookers. Confused
If any of the above seem to be close to your computer then resite your computer elsewhere today! Eek
Worst case scenario.. Frown
Constant exposure to magnetic fields can effect your hard drive causing bad errors Mad
Have you Had any BSODs yet or random fatal errors? Red Face
If so this is a clear indication that there is magnetic interference
Also ask the opinion of a TV repair guy if you can't find anything ,might be worth paying for an hours Labor? He may be able to spot what is causing this? Roll Eyes
But do the things I have suggested first, Roll Eyes that will save you a lot of grief and money Wink

Thanks bedstor, but I spoke to someone who assured me that it would not be the magnetic issue. He's very familiar with the degaussing process. He thinks it has to do with some connections.

I'm going to check every connection out.

Thank you and I'll let you know what I find - if anything! Wink

Tree, every so often, my screen quiver, but it only does it since the weather been cold. This may sound strange but when I take my hands across the screen, cleaning it, it quivers. My body is full of static and every metal object I touch in cold weather, pops. You could be generating electricity somehow from your body to cause it. Next time you clean your screen, see if it happens. It can be delayed for a minute before it happened.

Anyway I do have a greenfield filter implant. Roll Eyes

LOL Tree, it's a stainless steel filter implanted in the Vena Cava to keep a blood clot from my heart.

Now to stay out of trouble, we better get back to the original question. Big Grin Big Grin
