I'm looking to buy a laptop to be used mainly for taking notes at school. I want it to be somewhat lightweight and portable with a fairly small screen size.

It doesn't need to have a whole lot of memory, just enough that will allow me to run Microsoft Office, save no more than 50 documents, and get on the internet. (It needs an internal modem as well.)

I'm having trouble finding a laptop like this because most of the portable sized ones I've seen have a huge amount of memory that I don't need, and the ones that have less memory (and are a lot less expensive) have really short battery lives.

My price is no more than $600 if at all possible.

If anyone happens to run across a laptop that meets some of my specifications, please let me know as I would like to purchase one within the next month or so. I would prefer to get one from a place like Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart, etc, because then I could view it in person before purchasing. Thanks!

Sagus bought an excellant laptop that he loves. The problem is most laptops have batteries that don't last that long. The laptop he bought for school lasts for about an hour and then needs recharged. Especially for the amount of money you want to spend. You CAN get a battery that has longer life for this model, but you need to look for it.

But he has been totally satisfied with it and uses it with the aircard at the college.

When Class Registration is going on, he can register directly with his computer instead of waiting for an opening at the Kiosk.
