I am so confused. I have two power switches on my LCD monitor. There is one main one on the back and one at the front below the screen. If I just turn off the computer by pressing on the front one, I can still hear some sound from the monitor if I put my ears against the monitor and listen quietly. However, if I turn off using the front one then turn off using the back one too, the monitor will turn off completely (if no sound at all). I have a question, do I have to switch off both power switches after I turned my pc. Which will do the best for my monitor. If you need this information, the model of my monitor is Samsung SyncMaster 152N.

My guess is that the front switch turns off only the backlight.

What type of sound?
Is the 'main' one one the multimedia base (if you have one) or on the monitor itself?

FYI, tech support can be reached at 800-726-7864 or techsup@seasvc.samsung.com

The front one is on the monitor (beside those buttons which you can set the postion of the screen and the brightness. The sound that comes out is very quiet. You can only hear when everything is so quiet. It sounds like the machine is still running. TomGL2, what do you mean by backlight? Confused

I meant is it on the back of the monitor itself, or on the back of the multimedia base, if you have one. I assume that measn you don't have a multimedia base.

See LCDs - Backlit vs. Reflective.

Kitty - I understood the question. I was just trying to figure out what the second switch is, because only one is mentioned (though it doesn't mention where it is ) in the owner's manual. That model of monitor sometimes comes with a 'multimedia base,' which I thought might have its own master power switch. I would just use the switch in front, but if you are concerned, you may want to send an email to samsung tech support.

I had asked this question to the tech support but they told me to ask the sales person and they know how to help me. I tried to ask the sales person, but they just told me that it really doesn't matter. I think the back one is for main power myself (not sure), and the front one is for standby/on. This is just my guess. Eek
