I am having trouble with a third computer, win98se, which never gave me problems before. I've always had 3 pcs networked and now all of a sudden, I can't seem to stay on the internet with this third pc. I go to winipcfg and I have to change it every time from ppp adapter to the network card thats loaded on it. And then I release and renew all, and it just has the icon just spin, doesn't renew. Now I call the techs at zoomtown, dsl, and he says that if I unplug the hub and plug it back in and try it, it works, and it does. It'll stay good for about 5 attempts to get on, but after that it starts the whole problem over again. He's stating I need a new hub, that I should purchase a hub from their franchise and have someone come in and teach me networking, lol. I think he's full of it, am I wrong? I think this is kind of strange because the other two computers have no problem getting on the net, can someone help?

That does sound like a hardware problem.

Some thoughts...

1) Does the hub have another, unused port you can plug the troublesome PC into?
2) Can you swap the connections and see if the problem moves to a different computer?
3) Is the hub still under warranty?
4) Perhaps you can contact the hub's manufacturer and see if they can provide assistance?

I hope something here helps!
